W.H. Auden Wystan Hugh Auden was born in 1907 in York, England to George Augustus Auden, a distinguished physician, and Rosalie (Bicknell) Auden. He was educated at St. Edmunds Hindhood and consequently at Greshams School, Holt, Norfolk.
